Soundbytes is a record of the thoughts, ideas and activities of Michelle Dhillon, i.e. me. I used to be a ‘proper’ journalist before I realised that a hack’s life is not a particularly challenging one so abandoned all that hoopla and forged a reckless path in music journalism.

My groundbreaking interviews with Sir Terry Pratchett, Franz Ferdinand and Vini Reilly bagged me a nomination for Interviewer Of The Year at the 2004 Press Gazette Awards. I’ve also interviewed Kasabian, The Killers and Peter Doherty.

I worked for the Manchester Evening News, Nottingham Evening Post and Microsoft B2B magazines before setting up my own Nottingham-based online publication in 2007, NG Magazine. I’m the founder of the forthcoming Rockhaq website, which allows anyone to try music journalism and gig photography, regardless of what experience you have.
